Battle Buddy

Austin

Austin is a boxer mastiff  mix who was adopted from HFLCS in Springfield, MO. He was then adopted by K9s for Camo to become a battle buddy for one of our Purple Heart Veterans. Austin is also trained to help with PTSD. He will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between himself and other people. Austin did his training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort. He has passed his CGC, Community Canine, Urban CGC and Public Access Test! He has been serving proudly and continues to do so!

Diabetic Alert

Boston

Boston is an American Pitbull who was adopted from Buffalo, MO pound. He was severely abused his first few years of life and was adopted by a Springfield couple as his former owner awaited trial. He was later adopted by K9s for Camo. Boston is being trained as a diabetic alert dog.  He smells his veterans breath and alerts if his blood sugar is high or low. He has already been trained as stability dog and helps with mitigating the effects of PTSD. He will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between himself and other people. Boston did training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort and also at the Ozarks Correctional Facility. He has passed his CGC, Community Canine, Urban CGC and Public Access Test. Boston is fully task trained and is serving proudly with his Veteran!

50 Callie

50 Callie is a Shepherd mix who was adopted from Rescue One in Springfield, MO.  She was then adopted by K9s for Camo. She is currently looking for her future veteran! She is trained for PTSD and will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between himself/herself and other people. She also knows how to pick up items, and turn on a push button light if her Veteran is having a nightmare. 50 Callie did training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort and also at the Ozarks Correctional Facility. She has passed her CGC and is tasked trained! She is ready to serve and finish up her advanced classes with her new Veteran!

Trained for Mobility

Annie

Annie is a black lab mix who was adopted from HFLCS in Buffalo MO. She was then adopted by K9s for Camo to become a battle buddy for one of our returning heroes. Annie is also trained to help with PTSD, she has the ability to pick up items, turn lights on and off, and will bring her leash and other items to her Veteran that is in a mobility chair. She will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between herself and other people. Annie did training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort and also at the Ozarks Correctional Facility. She has passed her CGC, Community Canine, Urban CGC and Public Access Test! Annie is ready to serve proudly!

 

Balance and Stability

Atreyu

Atreyu is a Presa Canario who was brought into our program by his veteran. He is being trained for mobility, balance and to help mitigate the effects PTSD. He will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between herself and other people. Atreyu finished his first phase training at the correctional facility and has done his beginning training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort. He will need to do one more round when he gets older and his joints are fully developed. He already goes out in public and does great with his Veteran!

Chase

Chase is an American Bulldog mix who was adopted from Valley Hills Rescue in Springfield, MO. Valley hills adopted him the day before he was supposed to be euthanized. He was then adopted by K9s for Camo. Chase has been trained to pick up and bring medicine,  turn on lights, and open doors. He is also trained to help with mitigating the effects of PTSD. He will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between himself and other people. Chase did training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort and also at the Ozarks correctional facility. He has passed his CGC and is fully task trained! He will need to finish his advanced classes with his Veteran. He is currently enrolled in class and is ready to serve proudly!

Narcolepsy Alert Dog

Cheyenne

Cheyenne is a  hound mix who was adopted from HFLCS in Buffalo, MO.  She was then adopted by K9s for Camo to become a alert dog for a Veteran with Narcolepsy.  Cheyenne is trained to wake her Veteran of he falls asleep. She will also alert him if he begins to blackout while walking. She is also trained for PTSD and will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between himself and other people. Cheyenne did training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort and also at the Ozarks correctional facility. She has passed her CGC, Community Canine, Urban CGC and Public Access Test! Cheyenne is ready to serve proudly!

Assist with falling

Jazzy

Jazzy is a Collie Mix  who was brought into the program by her veteran. This Veteran and Camo Dog Team have passed their CGC, Community Canine, Urban CGC and Public Access Test. She is trained to help her Vietnam Era Veteran keep from falling. She is task trained to pause or stop when he approaches ramps or small changes in ground elevation. These angles are not seen by her veteran. Jazzy has been and will continue to serve proudly!

 

Seizure Blocking

Liberty

Liberty is a black lab  who was adopted from HFLCS in Buffalo MO. She was then adopted by K9s for Camo to become a seizure blocking dog for a Navy Veteran. Liberty is also trained to help with PTSD, she has the ability to pick up items, turn lights on and off and will alert our Veterans husband if she had a seizure. She will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between herself and other people. Liberty did training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort and also at the Ozarks Correctional Facility. She has passed her CGC, Community Canine, Urban CGC and Public Access Test! Liberty is ready to serve proudly!

Mitigate PTSD & Blood Level Alerts

Lilly

Lilly is a black lab  who was brought into the program by her veteran. She started the program as a puppy. This Veteran and Camo Dog Team have passed their CGC, Community Canine, Urban CGC and Public Access Test. She is trained to help with PTSD and is beginning to alert for blood sugar levels as well. She will post or block in public if her handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between himself and other people. Lilly has been to college classes with her Veteran and they both recently walked the stage together at graduation as her Veteran received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing! Lilly has been and will continue to serve proudly!

Stability Dog

Moose

Moose is a blood hound mix who was adopted from valley hills rescue in Springfield mo. Valley hills adopted him a few days before euthanasia. He was then adopted by K9s for Camo to become a stability dog for a Vietnam veteran! Moose is also trained to help with PTSD. He will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between himself and other people. Moose did training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort and also at the Ozarks correctional facility. He has passed his CGC, Community Canine, Urban CGC and Public Access Test! Moose is ready to serve proudly!

Mychal

Mychal is a German Shepherd who was brought into our program by his veteran. He is being  trained to help mitigate the effects PTSD. He will post or block in public if his handler feels overwhelmed or wants a barrier between herself and other people. Mychal has done his beginning training at the Howliday Inn Pet Resort and is already helping his Veteran in public! He will start his advanced training very soon!

Thistle

Thistle is a German shepherd mix that was adopted from the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri. He was originally apart of the Puppies for Parole Program and did so well that K9s For Camo adopted him into our program. Thistle is being trained for a very unique part of our program. K9s for Camo helps the Department of Corrections with a select few children who need service dogs but cannot afford one! He is being task trained for a 4 year old boy with down syndrome who loves running away and having fun when out in public. We are training Thistle with a specially designed harness so that when we pull on the top of the harness Thistle will sit and stay! This harness will be connected to his new boy so that if he tries running off, Thistle will become an anchor. We will also be training him to find the boys parents if ever separated! Thistle will be serving the community and his boy proud!
